The Lake McQueeney Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 (LMWCID 1) has shared its latest McQueeney Dam update: May 2025 on the ongoing Spillgate Replacement and Dam Armoring Project as of May 2025.

With crews making steady progress on both spillway slabs and embankment fortification, the project remains on track for substantial completion by early November 2025.

🏗️ Current Construction Highlights

As of mid-May, several key structural elements have been completed or are actively underway:

  • ✅ Bay 3 concrete foundation 2nd lift – Completed
  • ✅ Bay 3 spillway slab 3.1 lift – Completed
  • 🔄 Bay 3 spillway slabs 3.2 & 3.3 – In Progress
  • 🔄 Bay 3 spillway slab 4.1 – Started
  • ✅ Bay 2 concrete foundation 1st lift – Completed
  • 🔄 Bay 2 foundation 2nd lift – In Progress
  • 🔄 Control building concrete – Started
  • ✅ Maintenance bridge bent caps – Completed
  • 🔄 Maintenance bridge steel spans – Assembly Ongoing
  • 🔄 Stop log storage foundation – Ongoing
  • 🔄 North embankment dam armoring – Ongoing
  • 🔄 South embankment dam armoring – Restarted

🔨 What’s Coming Next?

Construction continues to ramp up with new lifts and armoring work scheduled over the coming weeks:

  • Bay 3 spillway slab placements 3.2, 3.3, 4.1, and 4.2
  • Bay 2 concrete foundation 2nd lift
  • Bay 2 spillway slab lift 3
  • South abutment concrete lift 1
  • Control building modifications and concrete walls
  • Ongoing armoring earthwork and concrete on north and south embankments

🏭 Steel Gate Manufacturing Progress

Steel-Fab, Inc. continues fabrication of the new steel gates:

  • Manufacturing is actively underway
  • Final delivery targeted by end of July 2025
